Pulwama: In the Awantipora region of south Kashmir's Pulwama district, a CRPF jawan allegedly took his own life using his service rifle while on guard duty at a check post. The tragic incident occurred during the night between Friday and Saturday. The jawan, identified as CT/GD sepoy Ajay Kumar from the 112 Bn, was stationed for security duty in the Morcha area of Awantipora. Around 1:55 am on the night of August 11 and 12, gunshots were heard near the SAIL Chersoo location. Upon investigation, the lifeless body of the jawan, Ajay Kumar, was discovered in a pool of blood. Kashmir Police initiated a probe into the incident to ascertain the cause of the jawan's death. Preliminary findings suggest that the CRPF personnel took his own life. However, official confirmation is pending.
