Hyderabad: In an attempt to commemorate the NTR Centenary celebrations, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) set up a statue of the legendary actor and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao in Motinagar, Jubilee Hills. However, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials stopped the installation, citing a lack of permission to erect the statue in the area. As GHMC officials and police arrived on the scene to remove the statue, heavy police force was deployed to prevent any untoward incidents. Meanwhile, TDP leaders expressed their fury and accused MLA Maganti Gopinath of conspiring to remove the statue. The TDP leaders were particularly angry as this is not the first time MLA Maganti has allegedly removed the statue of NTR in the past.
