During its most recent test run on Friday, the Vande Bharat Express, India's first indigenous semi-high-speed train, clocked a speed of more than 180 kph. It's interesting to note that the Vande Bharat train is likewise said to have been made entirely in India. 'VandeBharat-2 speed trial commenced between Kota-Nagda segment at 120/130/150 & 180 Kmph,' according to Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw's tweet. Another tweet from Vaishnav included a link to a minute-long video clip showing the locomotive-free train travelling at speeds between 180 and 183 Kmph. Without a separate engine, Vande Bharat trains are pushed by a self-propelled engine. Additionally, it boasts air-conditioned chair car coaches and automated doors.
