A man from Kerala is living the life of his dreams by flying a home-built aircraft around Europe with his family. Ashok Aliseril Thamarakshan put forth a lot of effort when the coronavirus was in lockdown to construct a plane. His father, MLA A V Thamarakshan, travelled to the UK in 2006 to pursue his master's degree after completing his BTech programme at Palakkad Engineering College. During the coronavirus lockdown in 2020, Thamarakshan made the decision to construct a private aircraft. Thamarakshan constructed a four-seater aeroplane for his family's vacation after investing over Rs 1.8 crore, 18 months, and roughly 1,500 hours. Thamarakshan made sporadic trips to the Sling Aircraft facility in Johannesburg while constructing his aircraft. He became more focused, conducted more research, and placed an order for a kit to make his own plane. The four-seater Sling TSI aircraft model has been given the name G-Diya by Thamarakshan in honour of his younger daughter, Diya.
