She has defended herself, explaining her disappearance and purported relationship with an adoptive child. Karate Kalyani stated that her phone had stopped working and that she was unable to appear in public for personal reasons. She named Shiva Shakthi and others and demanded their arrest. 'I don't understand why the police haven't arrested those who have defrauded the people the most,' the actress said.
