Dwaraka Thirumala Rao, MD of the APSRTC, stated that the RTC was burdened by the surge in diesel prices. He said at a press conference on Wednesday that the bulk prices of diesel had risen enormously and that the firm would go bankrupt if the maintenance expenses were not paid. He stated that the Diesel Cess costs will be raised under obligatory conditions. According to the rise in diesel cess, Pallevelugu buses increased by Rs. 2, express services increased by Rs. 5, and AC buses increased by Rs. 10. The minimum fee on rural buses has been raised to Rs 10. He urged travellers to understand that this is not a fare rise, and he predicted that the hike will go into force the following day (April 14). The APSRTC's managing director believed that the passengers would understand and cooperate.
