Introduction
Love OTP is a bilingual romantic drama made in Telugu and Kannada, directed by and starring Aneesh, who has acted in several Telugu films earlier. While he gained recognition as a hero in Kannada cinema, he now attempts to reconnect with the Telugu audience through this film. The movie revolves around a triangular love story blended with youthful elements and entertainment.
Plot Summary
Akshay (Aneesh) plays cricket for his college team and dreams of becoming a Ranji player. Sana (Aarohi Narayan) falls in love with him at first sight and tries to get closer. But Akshay hesitates due to his father (Rajeev Kanakala), who dislikes love affairs. Sana pressures and emotionally threatens Akshay, forcing him into the relationship.During this phase, Akshay meets physiotherapist Nakshatra (Jaanvika) and genuinely falls in love with her. The rest of the story reveals whether Nakshatra learns about Akshay and Sana’s relationship, how Akshay’s father reacts, and whom Akshay finally ends up marrying.
Analysis
This is a triangular love story infused with comedy. The director attempts to showcase how a boyfriend suffers under a dominating girlfriend, a theme seen in earlier films as well. Sana’s character shows similarities to the heroine’s role in a recently released film Camp. Her constant pressure on Akshay adds entertainment and keeps the first half engaging and enjoyable.
The interval raises curiosity about how the director will handle the second half. As expected, the pace slows down later, and the screenplay lacks the sharpness of the first half. A stronger ending could have elevated the film further. Handling such stories effectively is not easy, and though Aneesh falls slightly short, he still offers enough moments without disappointing the audience. His attempt to bring freshness to scenes and present a different experience is commendable.
Performances
Aneesh impresses as Akshay with his acting and dialogue delivery, though emotional scenes could have been handled better. Aarohi Narayan as Sana and Jaanvika as Nakshatra perform well within their roles. Rajeev Kanakala stands out, giving one of the strongest performances in the film and becoming a major highlight.
Songs do not add much value, while the cinematography is decent.
Aneesh could have improved the screenplay and shifted some focus from his own character to others. Still, the scenes crafted for this triangular love story appeal to the youth. The humorous portrayal of the “torture” that boys and girls face in relationships works well. As hero and director, Aneesh may not earn full distinction but secures good marks.
Final Verdict
Love OTP works as a time-pass entertainer, especially for viewers who enjoy different types of love stories.
