On Wednesday, September 13, Telangana BJP chief and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, along with several members of the party, were detained by the police at Dharna Chowk in the city. They were participating in a 24-hour hunger strike protest organized by the BJP against what they perceive as 'injustice' towards unemployed youth by the BRS government in the state. This incident led to heightened tension at the protest site, with protestors chanting slogans and a confrontation between the police and members of the BJP. According to the BJP, G Kishan Reddy was injured and lost consciousness during the confrontation. After a prolonged struggle, the police detained him and removed him from the protest location. The morning protest also saw the participation of BJP's national general secretary and Telangana in-charge, Tarun Chugh, Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and several other state party leaders.
