Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) made a historic decision on Sunday, putting an end to the feudalistic symbols of Neerati, Maskuru, Lushkar, and Shakasindhi by announcing the abolishment of the Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) system. This move aims to eliminate the remnants of the feudal era and address the issues of contract labor and low wages for VRAs. Under the new decision, the VRAs will now be integrated into supernumerary posts within the Revenue department itself, ensuring their regularization. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao emphasized that this step marks the conclusion of the practice where VRAs were engaged on contractual terms with inadequate pay. Keeping his promise, the State government swiftly acted on the Chief Minister's announcement, and on Monday, they issued a Government Order (GO) formally absorbing the VRAs into various departments with regular pay scales.
