Visakhapatnam: In Visakhapatnam, police have registered an FIR against an individual caught with INR 2 thousand currency notes worth INR 90 lakh and AR Inspector Swarnalatha, who allegedly extorted INR 12 lakh from him. The incident happened in the Seethammadhara area, where Swarnalatha's team apprehended a man named Suri Babu, who was found to be carrying INR 2 thousand currency notes with a face value of INR 90 lakh. It is alleged that Suri Babu was extorted by the CI, who took away INR 12 lakh worth of currency from him. Upon this incident, the naval staff, Kollu Srinu and Sridhar together complained to Visakha city CP Trivikram Varma. During the police investigation, it was revealed that Swarnalatha took money from him. Consequently, an FIR was registered against Swarnalatha, Shyamsundar alias Mehr, Srinu, under various sections. A case was also registered against Suri Babu, who acted as an intermediary in the counterfeit currency transaction.
