Hyderabad: In a heart-wrenching incident, a nine-year-old girl lost her life on Saturday morning after falling into an open manhole in Secunderabad due to the negligence of officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The victim, Mounika, was a resident of Kalasiguda in Secunderabad. According to the police, Mounika had accompanied her brother to purchase a packet of milk when the incident occurred. She accidentally fell into the open manhole, and the water current carried her away. The family only became aware of the tragedy after being informed by some passers-by. Upon receiving the news, the GHMC Disaster Response Force (DRF) team and local police launched an extensive search operation. After a long search, the team finally traced the body to the nala at Park Lane and retrieved it. The authorities have shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
