Sydney Cricket Ground honored cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara on Tendulkar's 50th birthday by naming a set of gates after them. The gates, used to access the field of play, were unveiled to mark Tendulkar's milestone and 30 years since Lara's iconic innings of 277 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The ceremony was led by SCG and Venues NSW Chairman Rod McGeoch AO and CEO Kerrie Mather, along with Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley. The Lara-Tendulkar Gates, located between the Members Pavilion's away dressing room and the Noble Bradman Messenger Stand, will be used by all visiting cricket players. With this honor, Tendulkar and Lara have joined the esteemed company of Sir Donald Bradman, Alan Davidson, and Arthur Morris, who also have sets of gates named after them at the SCG. Tendulkar's impressive Test record in Sydney, where he averaged 157 and scored three iconic centuries, was also acknowledged during the event.
