Tamil Nadu: In a stunning discovery, 22 Panchaloha idols have been uncovered during excavations at an ancient Shiva temple in Tamil Nadu. The Chatagatnathan temple in Shirgali, Myladudurai district, had not performed the Kumbhabhishek ritual in over 30 years, prompting preparations for the important event. During the excavations, a designated yagashala area within the temple was discovered, leading to the uncovering of the 22 deity idols. Made of five metals and standing at two feet tall, the idols have caused quite a sensation among temple-goers and archaeologists alike. In addition to the idols, the excavations also yielded hundreds of copper rods and other religious artifacts. The temple authorities have informed the archaeology department about the remarkable discovery.
