YS Sharmila detained during protest over TSPSC exam paper leak
Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila and several party members on Friday were detained by the police when they attempted to lay siege to the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) office in Hyderabad. The incident occurred as Sharmila and her supporters planned to stage a protest over the alleged leak of TSPSC exam papers, causing tension at the TSPSC office.
Despite orders from the police to disperse, Sharmila attempted to proceed with the protest, resulting in a commotion between both sides. Women police personnel physically lifted Sharmila and moved her to a police vehicle, while other protesters were also detained.
Prior to the incident, Sharmila criticized the state government for only arresting small individuals in connection to the paper leak, while the powerful ones remained free. She called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter. Sharmila accused the police of preventing her from protesting peacefully and democratically, stating that she was placed under house arrest with hundreds of police officers deployed around her residence. She questioned why a lookout notice was issued for her and declared that she is not a criminal.
