TDP national spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhiram and 13 other party leaders have been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a court in Andhra Pradesh's Gannavaram. They have been charged with attempt to murder and booked under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Pattabhiram alleged that he was beaten up by masked men and subjected to third-degree methods at the police station. The arrests were made after the TDP office in Gannavaram was attacked by supporters of local MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi of the ruling YSR Congress Party. The court has ordered a medical examination of Pattabhiram.
