Amaravati: Justice Abdul Nazeer has been appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh after retiring from the Supreme Court. He was the only minority judge on the bench that delivered the verdict in the Ayodhya case, paving the way for the construction of the Ram temple. Justice Nazeer also headed the Constitution Bench that upheld the 2016 demonetisation process and stated that there was no need for further restrictions on the free speech rights of politicians. Throughout his career, Justice Nazeer was involved in several significant Constitution Bench decisions, including the cases of triple talaq, right to privacy, and the Centre's 2016 demonetisation policy. He was born in Beluvai, Karnataka Dakshina Kannada district and became an advocate after completing his LLB degree from the SDM Law College. He practiced law before the Karnataka High Court and was elevated to the Supreme Court in 2017.
