The government today successfully tested "BharOS," a homegrown smartphone operating system created by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT). Dharmendra Pradhan, the union's minister of communications, electronics, and information technology, and the minister of union's education, tested the Made-In-India operating system at a gathering. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of union telecom, was also present. Soon, the operating system will be released. According to a news agency report, the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, a Section 8 (Not for Profit) Company formed by IIT Madras, incubated JandK Operations Private Limited (JandKops), which created the BharOS. New mobile operating system BharOS has a strong emphasis on security and privacy. A mobile operating system, such as Android by Google or iOS by Apple, is a piece of software that serves as the main user interface on a smartphone.
