The Supreme Court has been informed that 51 former and current lawmakers are accused of violating the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The study, however, omits to state how many of the 51 are current and former parliamentarians (MPs). In response to a petition for a speedy trial submitted by lawyer Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, the Supreme Court has appointed Vijay Hansaria as an amicus curiae in the cases against elected politicians. Following a thorough investigation, 121 current and former parliamentarians are the targets of CBI cases. The people's representatives are the target of several criminal investigations.
