New Delhi: Justice DY Chandrachud on Wednesday took oath as the 50th Chief Justice of India. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Justice Chandrachud at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former CJI UU Lalit, Supreme Court judges' and others attended the oath-taking ceremony. Earlier, former CJI UU Lalit named Justice DY Chandrachud as his successor and Justice UU Lalit retired on 8th November. Justice Chandrachud was first appointed as a judge of the Bombay High Court in 2000 and in 2016 he was appointed as the Supreme Court judge.
