On Friday, the High court ordered the police to provide the chargesheet, criminal history of MLC Ananta Babu, and the post-mortem report of the deceased driver, V Subrahmanyam. Ananta Babu filed two bail petitions with the High court after being detained on suspicion of killing Subrahmanyam. Ananta Babu's senior lawyer K. Chidambaram argued that since the police failed to submit a comprehensive chargesheet to the relevant court within 90 days, Ananta Babu was qualified to receive default bail. The deceased's mother, Nukaratnam, filed an impleaded petition in this litigation. On behalf of MLC, senior lawyer Chidambaram contended that the chargesheet submitted by the police in the lower court was dismissed by the court due to flaws in it.
