The Supreme Court has dismissed a special leave petition (SLP) concerning the recount of votes in the 2018 Assembly election that was brought by minister Koppula Eshwar, a TRS Dharmapuri MLA. Eshwar had requested the Court in his plea to quash the rulings made by the Telangana High Court in a suit filed against him related to an election. Koppula Eshwar was declared the winner of the election by fraud and without using the voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) mechanism, according to an election petition filed by Congress candidate A Laxman Kumar, who was defeated by Eshwar by 441 votes.
