The Sir M Visvesvaraya Train Terminal in Bengaluru's Baiyappanahalli is the country's most sophisticated railway station. It was constructed with cutting-edge features such as centralised air conditioning, seven platforms, escalators, and ample parking. The terminal would provide much-needed relief for train passengers by decongesting the city's other two functioning terminals (KSR Bengaluru and Yeshwanthpur). The station structure has a covered area of 4,200 square metres and can accommodate 50,000 visitors per day. On a daily basis, the railway station can handle upto 50 trains The Byappanahalli station is Bengaluru's third main railway terminus and the country's first to be air-conditioned.
