In what could be a blow for Jagan's government, the Supreme Court ordered that former Intelligence chief and senior IPS officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao be reinstated because suspensions of more than two years cannot be enforced. On February 7, 2022, his two-year suspension period came to an end. It further directed the AP government to give the officer any benefits for which he is qualified beginning February 8, 2022. It ordered that Rao be readmitted to employment by the state government. The Supreme Court, on the other hand, stated that it will not interfere with the High Court's orders. During Chandrababu Naidu's tenure, AB Venkateswara Rao was the state's chief of intelligence and enjoyed some privileges.
