Andhra Pradesh to Host State-Level Women’s Day Event in Prakasam

Ministers S. Savitha, Vangalapudi Anitha, and Gummadi Sandhya Rani have instructed officials to ensure the smooth and coordinated organization of the state-level International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8 in Markapuram, Prakasam district. Given that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is expected to attend, they emphasized the need for disciplined and meticulous planning.

On Tuesday, the ministers conducted a review meeting at the state secretariat in Velagapudi with officials from ten government departments, including the directors and senior officers from the Women and Child Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Backward Classes Welfare, Handlooms, and Home Departments.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister for BC Welfare S. Savitha stated that as part of the Women’s Day celebrations, over 100,000 women will be trained in tailoring and provided with sewing machines. She announced that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the initiative. Additionally, to support women’s economic empowerment, event management units will be established and launched by the Chief Minister. Stalls related to this initiative will be set up at the event venue, along with stalls showcasing handloom textiles and handicrafts.

Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha stressed the need for selecting eligible beneficiaries for government schemes and ensuring that they receive unit approval documents and cheques directly from the Chief Minister. She noted that the state government is taking all necessary steps to organize grand Women’s Day celebrations. Anitha also specified that only 15 stalls related to various departments should be set up at the event. Furthermore, she announced that the government has developed the Shakti App for women’s safety, which will be launched by the Chief Minister on Women’s Day.

Minister for Women and Child Welfare Gummadi Sandhya Rani directed district officials to organize parallel Women’s Day celebrations at the district level. She instructed immediate communication of the necessary details to district authorities for smooth implementation.
