Chandrababu lambasts State Govt, police for blocking his tour
Peddur (Chittoor dist), Jan 4: The former chief minister and TDP national president, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday lambasted both the State Government and the police for creating hurdles to his visit to Kuppam, his home constituency.
Talking to media persons at Peddur of the Kuppam Assembly segment in Chittoor district, Chandrababu Naidu reminded both the State Government and the police that he won from Kuppam seven times and that he had informed the police about his visit much in advance. Stating that the Government brought in GO No-1 on January 2 imposing restrictions on the parties not to organize any road shows, Chandrababu felt that this clearly indicates that the meetings should be held only with the generosity of the ruling party.
Pointing out that the Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, on Tuesday organized a meeting at Rajahmundry where a holiday was declared for all educational institutions and shifted the people forcibly to his meeting by the private transport, RTC, school, and college buses, the TDP supremo said that even Dwcra women were threatened with discontinuing their pension if they fail to attend the meeting.
"The people are being subjected to various kinds of problems if they fail to attend the ruling party leaders' meetings. Even those who are unhealthy are not left out," Chandrababu Naidu remarked. How the YSRCP leaders organized a meeting at Vizianagaram after the GO is issued, he asked.
As there is a lot of awareness among the public they are now attending the TDP meetings on a large scale, he said, and felt that the time has come for Jagan to go home. "He will not win again and has to go home," the TDP national president said and added that the people are now reposing faith in the TDP that it is the only party that can now bail out the State.
"Had I, as chief minister, taken similar decisions like this, Jagan would not have even moved out. How can the State Government impose restrictions on me to visit my own constituency," Chandrababu said. Questioning the State Government as to how he can be prevented from meeting people of his home constituency, Chandrababu asked whether the meetings are to be held in the sky.
Stating that he has already asked the local Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) as to why he is not allowed to move in Kuppam, the former chief minister wanted to know under which law his roadshow is being stopped. "The DSP tells me to make door-to-door visits to meet the people personally and interact with them," Chandrababu said.
Asking the State Government and the police whether the GO that was brought in on January 2 has any legitimacy, Chandrababu said that in the GO there is no mention of the amendment made in 1946 to the Police Act 1861. "If necessary any law can be adopted but a gazette notification should be issued after adopting the law and only then it can be implemented," he stated.
Under which Act, the GO is issued, and if anything is clearly mentioned in the law where is the need to issue a fresh Go, he asked. This is the reason people are fed up with Jagan's administration, Chandrababu felt. He is of the opinion that the Britishers are far better than Jagan and that his campaign vehicle is seized by the police against the law. Chandrababu strongly condemned the lathi charge on the TDP activists.
