AP: Army job aspirants arrested in Guntur

Visakhapatnam, June 18: Based on the intelligence inputs, the police closed Visakhapatnam railway station on Saturday till afternoon and provided three-tier security after ‘Chalo Visakhapatnam’ call given by Army job aspirants. Trains arriving at Visakhapatnam are diverted and some other trains were cancelled. 
 
A rally was organised by agitators in the city and raised slogans against the Modi-led Central government. Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Ch. Srikanth made an appeal to youth not to indulge in violence. He warned of stringent action if they destroy private and government properties.
 
High alert sounded at all railway stations in the state. A group of defence job seekers tried to barge into railway station in Guntur. They were taken into custody by police. Security heightened at Tirupati railway station on receiving information that students aspiring for Army jobs are getting ready to organise stir. Massive protests erupted in several states opposing new Agnipath Scheme announced by Centre.
