The BCCI is firm on conducting the latest IPL season in India. But, with the rise in Covid cases across the country, the Board hopes to hold matches on a limited number of grounds. Board sources said the BCCI was planning to hold IPL league matches in Maharashtra and play-off matches in Gujarat. They explained that if the Covid situation in Maharashtra worsens then there is a chance that the IPL will be moved to the UAE.

Maharashtra was dotted with the highest number of stadiums like the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium near Pune. If league matches are held in those stadia, it seems that the BCCI is planning to hold the play-off matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad,
