Indian Railways has given the green signal for a new Express train service between Machilipatnam and Kurnool City, bringing welcome relief to passengers travelling between the coastal and Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh.
The approximately 499-km service will run via Vijayawada, Gudivada and Nandyal, linking several important towns and districts. It will operate three days a week in both directions.
Schedule
Machilipatnam → Kurnool City: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Departure: 4:55 pm; Arrival (next day): 5:45 am.
Kurnool City → Machilipatnam: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Departure: 9:30 am; Arrival (same day): 9:35 pm.
The timings have been planned to suit both overnight and daytime travellers.
Commercial Halts
The train will have commercial stops at Gudivada, Vijayawada, Narasaraopet, Vinukonda, Donakonda, Markapur Road, Cumbum, Giddalur, Diguvametta, Nandyal, Bethamcherla and Dhone.
Officials say the new service will significantly improve direct connectivity from the coastal districts to Palnadu, Prakasam, Nandyal and Kurnool districts. Thousands of people who frequently travel for education, employment, business and medical reasons are expected to benefit.
The train number and fare details will be announced by the Railway authorities shortly.
