No Language Being Imposed on Any State: Centre
Sukanta Majumdar stated that under the National Education Policy (NEP), the choice of the three languages to be learned by students is left to the states, regions, and the students themselves. "The question of imposing any language on states does not arise," he emphasized.
He further explained that under the three-language formula, two of the three languages must be Indian languages. The implementation of the formula, he said, is carried out in accordance with constitutional provisions and the aspirations of the states. Majumdar also highlighted that the primary objective of the three-language formula is to promote multilingualism.
