CM Chandrababu Promises Top Universities for Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced that the state would soon welcome top-tier universities and educational institutions. Speaking at a workshop on Population Dynamics and Development at SRM University on Tuesday, he stated that Andhra Pradesh had faced numerous challenges over the past five years. He asserted that if the construction of Amaravati had continued, the region’s landscape and circumstances would have been significantly different. He also mentioned that the construction of central and state government offices in the capital would commence soon.
As the chief guest at the event, Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone and inaugurated buildings worth ₹700 crore at SRM University. He later addressed questions from students and intellectuals.
30% of IT Professionals Are Telugu
Recalling his role in attracting IT companies to Hyderabad in 1995, Chandrababu Naidu stated, “Among IT professionals, Indians earn the highest incomes. Additionally, 30% of IT employees working abroad are Telugu people.” He described himself as a lifelong learner and emphasized that he always considers different perspectives.
Speaking on population growth, he noted that while it was once perceived as a major challenge for India, the global scenario has changed. “Aging populations have now become a significant issue worldwide, impacting economies in countries like China, Japan, and Germany. We must strategically utilize human resources and, therefore, focus on population growth.” He pointed out that maternity leave policies have evolved over time and indicated a shift toward promoting population growth. “Unlike in Western countries, where family structures differ, India’s familial bonds remain strong,” he added.
₹1 Lakh Crore Investments for Amaravati
Highlighting his long-term vision for the state, Chandrababu Naidu stated that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is advancing the ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) initiative, Andhra Pradesh is progressing with ‘Vision 2047.’ “Our goal is to transform Andhra Pradesh into a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047,” he explained. He also set a target to increase the state's per capita income to ₹58 lakh, which, he said, requires achieving a 15% annual growth rate.
Chandrababu Naidu asserted that the government is implementing strategies outlined in its vision document and urged public cooperation in building a poverty-free society. He stated that employment and income-generating plans are being developed through public-private partnerships. He also disclosed that ₹40,000 crore is being spent on the development of Amaravati and that investments worth ₹1 lakh crore are expected in the near future. “Andhra Pradesh will play a crucial role in India’s long-term economic growth,” he stated.
Smart Work Over Hard Work
Emphasizing empowerment initiatives for women and youth, Chandrababu Naidu remarked that smart work is now more important than hard work. He stated that efforts are underway to create work-from-home opportunities for educated women and expressed confidence that women can outperform men in the workforce.
He announced that SRM University would provide education to 50,000 students and added that if the university commits to this initiative, the government is prepared to allocate an additional 200 acres of land and water resources. He also urged SRM to support 10,000 families by offering educational and employment assistance.
Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his commitment to ensuring equitable wealth distribution and poverty eradication. He announced that the ‘P4’ initiative would be officially launched on Ugadi to support this mission. Concluding his speech, he reaffirmed his government’s efforts to bring premier universities and educational institutions to Andhra Pradesh.
