Hyderabad Metro Introduces EVs for Last-Mile Connectivity
Hyderabad Metro Rail has introduced a new initiative to make commuting more convenient and eco-friendly for its passengers. This initiative connects metro stations to key destinations using pollution-free electric vehicles (EVs), easing the burden for passengers who previously relied on personal vehicles, auto-rickshaws, or cabs to complete their journey. Commuters can now reach their homes, offices, or colleges seamlessly using these EV zip vehicles, according to officials.

Hyderabad Metro, the second-largest metro system in India after Delhi, caters to a diverse range of passengers, including professionals, students, and businesspeople. Recognizing the need for last-mile connectivity, Metro Rail has implemented a plan to make EVs available for both first and last-mile transportation. This new service was officially launched by Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy, who flagged off the vehicles.

Additionally, women drivers are being trained under the guidance of the Saiodhya Foundation. The foundation provides skill development programs, including training in operating EVs and navigating heavy traffic conditions. Foundation representative Mridula stated that five women have already completed their training, with plans to extend the program to 100 women in the future.
