'Game Changer' Piracy Case: AP Local TV Staff Arrested
Global star Ram Charan's latest movie Game Changer, directed by renowned filmmaker Shankar, has become the center of a major piracy controversy. Produced on a grand scale by Tollywood producers Dil Raju and Sirish, the film released on January 10 to widespread acclaim and immense box-office success.
However, while the film continued its successful theatrical run, a group of approximately 45 individuals leaked a pirated version of the movie online. The production team immediately filed a complaint with cybercrime authorities to address the issue.
In a related development, a local TV channel, AP Local TV, illegally broadcast the pirated version of Game Changer in Andhra Pradesh. This led to action by M/S Copyright Safety Systems, headed by Managing Director H.V. Chalapathi Raju. In collaboration with Gajuwaka police under the Visakhapatnam Commissionerate and the Crime Clues team, officials conducted a raid on the channel's office, represented by Appala Raju.
During the operation, authorities seized all broadcasting equipment from the channel's premises. An FIR was lodged, and several staff members of the channel were arrested for their involvement in the piracy.
Prior to this incident, the Game Changer team had noticed organized negative campaigns against the film on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. These campaigns included the sharing of leaked clips and even full versions of the movie online and on TV. Officials from the Crime Clues team confirmed that these activities constituted copyright law violations, leading to swift action against those responsible.
