AP police team leaves for Mauritius to seek Gangi Reddy extradition

Hyderabad, March 9, 2015: AP Police officials have initiated steps to seek extradition of the notorious red sanders smuggler Gangi Reddy from Mauritius where he was arrested and jailed on an Interpol red corner notice. Already a police team left for Mauritius from Kurnool district carrying the certified documents of the cases filed against him. The police officials will meet the Mauritius police authorities and the concerned court which is hearing Gangi Reddy's bail plea today. Courts in AP have already given decrees authorising the Government to confiscate his properties worth Rs.300 Cr in Hyderabad, Bangalore and other cities. Besides being involved in red sanders smuggling, Gangi Reddy was also an accused in the case relating to the Maoist attack on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in 2003 at Tirupati.
