Spitting to be fined in TS municipal towns soon

Hyderabad, Feb 25, 2015: Telangana cabinet sub committee headed by Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has recommended strong measures to keep the roads clean in municipal towns. One of the measures included imposing fine for spitting on roads. The committee met last evening here and considered various measures discussed in the conference of Municipal Commissioners and Mayors held in Hyderabad recently. The meeting was chaired by Tummala Nageswara Rao. Municipal Commissioners and Mayors requested Chief Minister KCR to empower them with magisterial powers to punish those who spoil roads. This system is in vogue in Singapore. KCR later constituted cabinet sub committee to study the issues discussed in the conference. The sub committee, which favoured imposing fines on those who spoil the roads with spitting and throwing other dirt, has however suggested this should be implemented only after providing basic amenities to the people.
