ICRISAT to adopt three Mandals for agri research in WG district

Eluru, Feb 11, 2015: ICRISAT ( International Crops Research Institute for Semi Arid Tropics ) will adopt three Mandals in West Godavari district for undertaking research on crops in 10,000 acres. Disclosing this to reporters here, joint director of agriculture Sai Lakshmi said that ICRISAT will extend technical support to farmers in Nallajerla, Dwaraka Tirumala and Unguturu Mandals over maintaining soil health, use of fertilisers and pest and weed control aimed at achieving better agricultural yield on maize, pulses, groundnut and paddy. As part of the research, ICRISAT will disseminate information to farmers from time to time on drought mitigation, soil conservation and other technical issues. To implement its research, ICRISAT will form strategic coalition to help farmers on capacity building methods employed in agricultural production.
