CM Revanth Reddy Denounces Kejriwal's Arrest as Politically Motivated

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, in an interview with a national media outlet, criticized the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a liquor scam as unlawful. He alleged that the BJP, fearing defeat in the upcoming elections, strategically timed Kejriwal's arrest. "The entire nation is watching what's happening with this case, which has been ongoing for the past two years. Just before the elections, they decided to arrest Kejriwal," Reddy stated, questioning the timing of the arrest, which coincides with the electoral season.

Reddy also highlighted the simultaneous arrests of two sitting chief ministers, Hemant Soren and Kejriwal, right as the election heat began. He compared the unfolding events of the liquor case to a TV serial, denouncing the illegal confinement. He raised questions about the Enforcement Directorate's silence over the past two years if they had sufficient evidence.

On the topic of electoral bonds, Reddy pointed out that while Kejriwal's party is accused of accepting ₹100 crores from a liquor businessman for election expenses in Goa and Punjab, the same businessman allegedly contributed between ₹400 to ₹500 crores to the BJP in the form of electoral bonds. He criticized the double standards, where BJP's funds are considered 'white money', and others are deemed 'black money'.

Following recent Supreme Court directives, the details of electoral bond contributions are becoming public, revealing that in the past four years, BJP has received ₹6,780 crores out of the total ₹22,500 crores worth of electoral bonds purchased nationwide.

As the construction of the Ram Mandir concluded, Reddy observed that BJP changed its narrative, promising not to spare the corrupt and to send the guilty to jail, which he implies is a divergence from their past actions. He insists that the nation is closely monitoring these developments and the government's conduct.
