No CBI probe in State: TRS govt
Hyderabad, October 30: The Telangana government has withdrew the general consent given to the CBI to probe various corruption cases in the State.
Earlier, the CBI had permission to inquire any case in the State. Now the TRS government recalled the decision and issued a GO No 51 on August 30 this year. As per the GO, the CBI has to take the government’s permission to probe any case in the State.
It came to know that the government took the decision two months ago amid rumours that the CBI has intensified its action against some companies in the State. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao recently gave a call to non-BJP ruled States to withdraw the general consent given to CBI, alleging that the Centre is misusing the investigating agency to target States.
Now as the government withdrew the consent, the CBI has to seek permission from the government to probe and proceed in every case, according to sources.
