PM Modi Wins TIME's Person Of The Year-2016 Poll
December 5, 2016: PM Narendra Modi has won Time magazine's online poll of readers’ choice as ‘Person of the Year’ in 2016. He beat other global leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Barack Obama and US President-elect Donald Trump etc. Modi won this prestigious honour with 18% vote, where as Barack Obama, Julian Assange, Donald Trump received 7% of vote each. The poll to cast vote closed last night. In 2015 the title was awarded to German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The US publication awards this title every year to the person “who has most influenced our world and the news in the past one year, for good or bad.” Time Magazine said " in recent past, Indian PM Modi has seen high approval ratings from the Indians. Recently he has come under scrutiny for announcing massive demonetisation reforms,which made huge impact on cash based transactions."
