RK 'safe' but Whereabouts Not Known : Wife Withdraws Petition in Hgih Court
Hyderabad, Nov.4: Though top Maoist leader Ramakrishna alias RK is proclaimed to be "safe", his whereabouts continues to be shrouded in mystery.
The revolutionary writer Varavara Rao disclosed on Thursday that RK was safe according to information received by him. However, he did not reveal the source of his information and also about whereabouts of the evasive Maoist leader. As a matter of fact, Varavara Rao told about RK's safety to ensure the Girirjans in the agency area from being allegedly harassed and tortured by the police to elicit information about the Maoist leader. Stop hunting for RK by torturing innocent villagers. He is safe, the revolutionary appealed to the police.
Consequently RK's wife Sirisha withdrew her petition in the High Court on Friday which she had filed to seek the court's intervention fearing threat to her husband's life from the police, who whom she alleged were holding him their custody. The counsel for her today filed the petition in the court seeking permission for withdrawing the petition filed a few days back. The court granted permission for withdrawing the petition.
As a matter of fact, the Vizag Rural SP on behalf of the AP Government in a counter petition filed before the Division Bench of the High Court of Hyderabad comprising of Justices C. V. Nagarjuna Reddy and M.S.K.Jaiswal yesterday had made it amply clear that RK was not in the police custody as was being alleged. Thereupon the court wanted the petitioner to provide any evidence that RK was in police custody if not approach the Human Rights Commission.
Thus in a quick turn of events, Varavara Rao revealed that RK was safe as per his information and accordingly the Maoist leader's wife withdrew her petition accusing the police of holding her husband in their custody.
