Winning over poverty is our objective : Chandrababu
Vijayawada, June 7: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said a mission mode approach has been adopted in the last two years by implanting various welfare measures to benefit the poor.
In a teleconference held with officers of the various departments here , the chief minister said to win over poverty is the objective of our government, and we are targeting to ensure a minimum monthly income of Rs.10,000 to every household in the state.
The government increased old age and widow pensions by five folds and pensions to physically handicapped persons by 3 folds, and Rs.5,700 crore has been spent on pensions in one year, said the Chief Minister.
“Rs 2,700 crore as capital investment was provided to Self Help Groups and Rs 1,300 crores was allotted to pay the interest. With the help of technology, the money is directly transferred into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, he said. Therefore we are eliminating the middlemen in various government sponsored welfare schemes,” said the Chief minister.
Naidu said his government is aiming to create happy and healthy Andhra Pradesh. He said that it’s the responsibility of every employee in the state to understand the objectives of ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ and ‘Maha Sankalpam’.
