People commit more sins & escape wrath by greasing god, quips Chandrababu
People were committing more and more sins and trying to escape god's wrath by making votive offerings in temples, rising temple revenues. As a result, endowments revenues were growing by as much as 30% per year without the efforts of endowment officials, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu quipped on Wednesday. He was participating in the District Collectors conference when the growing revenues of the Endowments Department came up for discussion. Chandrababu said had there been no temples, mosques and churches the people would have gone mad long ago. Therefore they were sinning more and more and were making more and more offerings to temples, mosques and churches. Without referring to Ayyappas, he said for 40 days in a year the excise revenues were down in the State. Although the Chief Minister did not say so, the knowledgeable say even the crime rate is down during the 40-day prayers. In any case, the Chief Minister pointed out that endowments revenue was up by 27% as compared to the previous year.
