Prakasam Sarpanch of YCP hacked to death

Gaddam Venkat Reddy, YCP leader and Sarpanch of Santamagalur in Prakasam district, was hacked to death with axes by opponents of the same village on Sunday night. Village politics is said to be the cause for the killing. Venkat Reddy completed his day's chores and returned home in the night and was talking to a neighbour when the armed group of six descended on him home and hacked Venkat Reddy to death. The assailants are stated to be also of Santamagalur. YS Jaganmohan Reddy, YCP leader, immediately made a telepone call to the bereaved family and assured them that he would stand by them in the hour of need. Prakasam district, which is also prone to violence, has been quiet for a long time. The factional politics are again rearing their ugly heads. The killing of Venkat Reddy is an example.
