TRS finds home truth bitter in Siddipet

Home truths are bitter. The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti, to its chagrin, has had to put with opposition in its bastion of Siddipet, while the TRS proved the monarch on all municipalites, corporations, and local body elections in the State so far. The TRS did indeed get the majority with 22 wards in the Siddipet municipality, which is a rare towering place with colourful mansions lining both sides of the road in Telangana. In the 34-ward municipality, the TRS has bagged 22 wards, including 6 it had won unanimously. The TRS rebles won seven seats as independents, proving the party has opposition in its own backyard. The TRS has been claiming that the oposition parties are as good as dead and buried. The opposition parties have been resurrected in Siddipet of all the places. The BJP has won two wards, which is commnedable in the circumstances. Much against the TRS contention, the Congress has also won two seats. The AIMIM, with which the TRS has love-hate ties, has made its opening in Siddipet by winning one ward. The rebel independents will naturally be coaxed back into the ruling party. But then they have contested against the ruling TRS and won seven seats turns them independents. In other words, there is 33% opposition in the TRS backyard of Siddipet, which is home to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his nephew T. Harish Rao. The TRS did not look back in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Elections and Greater Warangal and the Khammam Corporation elections. While the opposition united against the TRS in Achchampet in Mahbubnagar district, the TRS held its sway. But in its own backyard, it failed to impress the people with the Krishna-Godavari projects or the two-bedroom showpiece houses.
