Padmanabham postpones fast starting Friday

Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham on Thursday postponed his second indefinite fast scheduled to start tomorrow owing to the Inter and Board examinations underway. Padmanabham, however, said there was no question of his backing out from his demands. He would not sleep till the government met his demands or let Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu sleep. Apparently he took the decision after he had a look at the budget which allotted Rs.1000 crore for the Kapu Corporation and a massive allotment of Rs 8332 crore for the Backward Classes. He merely said that the Rs 1000 crore allotment for the Kapus was insufficient. He said he would talk to ten Kapu representatives each from the various districts before taking a decision on the indefinite strike. He was not in a hurry. He would measure the government response meanwhile.
