Fadnavis calls KCR for talks on Godavari water
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday called Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for urgent talks to Mumbai after not a drop of the Godavari water was flowing down the Babli dam. Chandrasekhar Rao agreed to attend the talks in Mumbai on March 7. Fadnavis proposed in his communication that both the States should have comprehensive talks on the intractable river water issues between the two States. Not a drop of water is flowing to Telangana and the Shriramsagar project and other projects depending on the Godavari in Telangana are dry. With the Godavari running dry down the Babli, the TRS government's resolve to bring the river water to Hyderabad is in jeopardy. Both the TDP and BJP had put up physical struggle at Babli and their leaders, including Chandrababu Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya, had been beaten and jailed in Maharashtra. At that time, mum's the word for the TRS. Even women BJP leaders were not spared during the agitation at Babli. A woman who was beaten with lathis on the waist was not able to rise up long after the beating. Despite their sacririces, today there's not a drop in the Godavari flowing from Maharashtra.
