Alagiri terms DMK-Congress alliance aimless

Having been suspended by his parent party, the DMK, Alagiri, the eldest son of Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, has made the shocking comment that whatever political alliances or conspiracies, nothing can unseat the ruling All-India Anna DMK. Taking on the overtures between the Congress and his DMK, Alagiri on Thursday came down severely on their proposed alliance, saying that it was unholy and that both the parties were aimless. Alagiri was suspended by the DMK because of his parent party favouring the rise of his younger brother Stalin. While Alagiri has strong base in Madurai, Stalin remains close to his father. The ground reality is Tamil Nadu normally moves between the two DMKs during the elections. But it appears Amma Jayalalithaa is consolidating her position after being given a clean chit, if erroneously, by the Special Court that went into corruption charges against her.
