Shashank Manohar has not totally ruled out a series against Pakistan in December this year. Shashank Manohar is believed to have told the media that all would depend on the central government's decision on the series against Pakistan. An Indian Express reports said, "India could play five One-Day Internationals and two T20Is with Pakistan in December." The report said BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, a BJP MP, is expected to meet the Union Home Ministry Rajnath Singh after Diwali with a fresh proposal on the issue.
