CJI Dattu recommends Justice Thakur as successor
Hyderabad, Nov 4: Chief Justice of India HL Dattu is said to have recommended Justice TS Thakur as his successor today. With Chief Justice of India Dattu retiring on December 2, Justice Thakur will be the next CJI. Justice Thakur is the senior most judge in the Supreme Court. The central government is expected to process the recommendation and then forward it for President's approval. Following which a notification will be issued. Justice Thakur will be in office for one year and one month and will retire on January 3, 2017. Earlier, Justice Thakur served as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, before being elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court in 2009.
