Marri sees conspiracy behind GHMC polls schedule

Hyderabad, Nov 02: Senior Congress leader and Ex-MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy alleged that Telangana government scheduled GHMC elections during Sankranti vacation to prevent Seemandhra people living in Hyderabad from exercising their franchise. Seemandhra people comprise 35 per cent of the city population and delimitation of wards was carried as per the suggestions of KCR, he said. He demanded the government to keep notification on division of wards in abeyance till Election Commission takes a decision on mass deletions of voters. The government refused to increase the number of wards as it move will create problems to it in nominating co-opted members, he alleged. He asked the government to increase the wards in tune with the growing population.
