Tobacco Board chairman sacked

Delhi, Sep 16: Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today sacked Tobacco Board Chairman K Gopal IAS for embarking on a foreign tour at a time when the Tobacco farmers in the state were ridden in crisis. Nirmala Sitharaman today conducted a review meet on tobacco crisis in Delhi. She expressed anger on the board chairman for visiting Italy at the time when the tobacco farmers were facing several problems. She issued orders giving additional charge of the board director to another senior official. It may be noted that several tobacco farmers committed suicide in the state recently.
